  • Shell account

To have a shell account you need to be on a shell account plan. A shell account can be used to learn Gnu/Linux (Ubuntu) or manage websites (although the latter is more easily done using a secure file transfer program, such as scp), with their shell set to rssh.

  • Source control: Git

A source control system helps you keep track of the different versions of the source code in your projects.

As a version control system for your own projects, you can use git.

The git distributed version control system is installed and working. It is tracked by the Ubuntu APT.
